A catch-all email mailbox is one that captures all the messages sent to invalid addresses. For instance, if your email address is info@domain.com, but someone miswrites it and sends an email to inof@domain.com, it will still be received in the catch-all mailbox that you have configured. Only one single mailbox per domain can have this feature activated and in this way you’ll never miss messages because the other side has an out-of-date address or has made a typographical error. The drawback of using a catch-all mailbox is that you may begin receiving a lot of spam, but this issue can be solved by using an anti-spam filtering solution. It is also vital to bear in mind that a mailbox with an activated catch-all functionality cannot redirect inbound messages to a 3rd-party email address.
Catch-all Emails in Hosting
If you have a hosting with us and you’d like to activate the catch-all feature for a given e-mailbox that you have in the web hosting account, it will take literally only a single click of the mouse in the Email Manager section of your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to achieve that. A catch-all button is available on the right side of each email address that you have set up under any domain hosted in the account. You can choose one address per domain name by clicking on the corresponding button. This will activate the feature instantaneously, so all messages sent to mistyped email addresses will be received there. Clicking the button once again will turn off the catch-all feature. In case you’ve got active email forwarding, our system will show a warning note and you will not be able to activate the catch-all feature till you remove the forwarding or you can simply pick a different mailbox to be the catch-all one.
